Aussie model Bridget Malcolm has opened up about being left with ‘terrible health problems’ caused by her eating disorder.

The 27-year-old beauty has previously spoken about her 10-year struggle and though she overcame her battle with anorexia, has admitted that "starving" herself for a decade has caused a lot of damage.

In a candid post on her website Life In ED Recovery, she wrote revealed she has been left with terrible ‘lingering’ health problems.

“I have real problems with my hormones, as well as some body injuries that will never heal,” she wrote. “I do not digest food well, nor do I tolerate certain foods at all.”

The former Victoria's Secret model has “made peace” with the fact she can't blame anyone else for her health issues.

“I have had to make peace with the fact that I brought this upon myself,” she continued.

Although she is in recovery, Bridget admitted every day is still a battle.

“Every day I wake up and I do the things I need to do to ensure that I remain healthy. It is a constant state of vigilance against my brain, because my knee jerk reaction is to not eat whenever I am struggling,” she wrote.

As such, she refuses to engage in discussions about food or appearances - specifically ‘about bodies, or food, or body bashing’ - because she knows they can send her on a downward spiral. So she has set boundaries around conversation.

“Nothing triggers me more, because it reminds me that my body is something that I can wage a war against. I spent so many years hating and fighting myself,” she wrote.

“I never want to go back there - and body talk is an express ticket back to starvation for me.”

She wrote some days her insecurities still get too much, but the biggest thing that helps her get through those times is “opening my mouth and telling others”.
