A woman was left "embarrassed" over how her mother-in-law acted during her wedding.
In a Reddit post on the popular Subreddit r/weddingshaming, a woman recounted a series of events during the rehearsal and wedding day that made her mother-in-law out to be a "monster-in-law."
The bride admitted there was "a lot of drama" before the big day that she hoped would settle. However, it only got worse. In her post, she detailed how although her in-laws paid for her rehearsal, they refused to tip any of the vendors. This made her have "a panic attack in the bathroom" during what was supposed to be a special night before the ceremony.
Things only escalated from there. The in-laws proceeded to take "family photos" during the rehearsal dinner but would not include the bride in any of the pictures. "I was sitting at the table next to where the pictures were being taken and was not asked to join," the woman wrote.
She added, "I even stood up at one point and asked my parents what I should do and they were appalled. I have no pictures of myself from the rehearsal or rehearsal dinner."
The wedding day didn't get any better. From paying the DJ to change the mother-son dance song to one that made the groom "uncomfortable" to giving an "unprepared" speech at the last minute, the mother-in-law made several wedding changes without the bride and groom's permission.
But the bride said the most offensive thing she did was tell her friends to wear wedding dresses. "The worst part is that MIL asked all of her friends to wear wedding dresses/white dresses to our wedding," she wrote.
The bride added, "Luckily, only one did. It was silver so not white but definitely a wedding dress. MIL wore a very very pale blue dress that was basically white. My friends all came up to me asking why there were two other people in wedding dresses (MIL and her best friend)."
Reflecting upon her nuptials, the woman said she felt "ignored as the bride and hurt that everyone allowed this to happen."

In the comments section, many people were horrified by the actions of the woman's in-laws, with some even suggesting that she go "no-contact" with them.
"She asked her friends to wear wedding dresses?! OMFG I would go no contact so fast," one person wrote, with another adding, "MIL telling her friends to wear their wedding dresses to her son's wedding sounds like a declaration of war against the bride. OP I would also take the advice to go no contact with MIL. This can only get worse now that you're married, not better."
Other commenters called out the groom for doing nothing about the situation.
"See this as your sign that you and your new husband need to have a come to Jesus meeting ASAP," one user wrote. "If the marriage is going to work, he needs to stand up to his family and support you. He never should have taken family photos w/o you and that’s on him."
