Bride's Mom Was So Late to Her Daughter's Wedding That She Missed the Whole Ceremony— Now the Mom is Furious
The bride says her mom showed up so late to the ceremony that she missed the entire thing
A bride is feuding with her family after she says they showed up so late to her wedding that she had no choice but get married without them.
In an anonymous post shared to Reddit, the bride explained that the day of her wedding "started out as they normally do."
But as she was getting ready and making final touches, her mom left to go back to the hotel, change, and pick up her grandmother and a family friend.
"The invitation says ceremony at 2, as per usual we were a little late starting but nothing crazy. Next thing I know I’m walking myself down the aisle with no mom, grandma, or family friend in sight," the bride wrote. "The ceremony continues and it’s over before we know it."
Some 45 minutes later, she added, "finally they pull up."
"Then I proceed to go and tell them it’s over and that they missed it," she wrote. "My mother immediately became hostile and proceeded to blame the bakery for not having buns ready, then said they were stopped by a train and my personal favorite was, 'It’s your fault you didn’t call or text to see where we are. Again the invitation said 2.'"
Now, the bride says her mother is insinuating she is the one in the wrong for "not holding up my ceremony."

Overwhelmingly, commenters on the post are siding with the bride.
"You started your wedding on time," wrote one, adding: "IDK what poor planning involved her leaving and coming back but she didn't make it, and her reaction doesn't sound like she even really intended to. I do not see why you should have to delay the start of your wedding for ANYONE. Sounds like an important lesson she needed to learn."
Another wrote that the bride should have asked her mom, "So Mom, you do know that my wedding day wasn't about you, right?"
Others were more blunt, writing, "Any functional adult should be aware that wedding venues and officiants will not wait 45 minutes for a random guest to show up."
Another commenter questioned why no one made an attempt to find the missing family members. "If she could receive a text, she could send a text. It's not up to the bride or groom to keep track of family on their wedding day."
"That said, it is curious that no one -- no other family members, no other member of the wedding party, no wedding planner, etc. made an attempt to find out where the mother of the bride was when she didn't show up. Was it a tiny ceremony?"
