Someone made a joke at a wedding, but the bride isn't laughing.

In a post on Reddit's "Wedding" forum, the bride expressed her frustration over a jokester at her recent nuptials. She explained that when the officiant asked during the ceremony, "If anyone has any objections, speak now or forever hold your peace," one of her guests piped up.

"My husband's friend purposefully started coughing," the bride recalled. "In the moment everyone laughed it off and we continued with the ceremony."

Even though everyone else appreciated the moment of humor, the bride didn't think that the coughing was comical and expressed her feelings to her husband shortly after they tied the knot.

"I didn’t make a scene, but I did tell my husband a few days after the wedding that I felt that wasn’t the time or place for his friend to make a joke," the woman wrote. "He said if he had reacted, it would have made the whole thing into a bigger thing."

She added: "I felt like what his friend did was not funny. So much money, time and energy went into wedding planning and he decided to make the moment about him."

The groom disagreed with his wife, countering that his friend was "just joking."

"But I don’t find anything funny about that," the bride insisted. "This friend is twice divorced and he’s said before that he doesn’t like weddings so that adds to why I don’t believe that behavior was just an innocent joke."

Although the bride wants to "let it go" like everyone else has, she can't help but feel "upset."

"I wanted to elope and have an intimate wedding and my husband wanted a bigger wedding with his family and friends just for one of them to turn around and do that," she wrote.

Commenters on Reddit agreed that it's time for the bride to move on from the situation. They said she was rightfully upset, but pointed out that she can't change what happened.

"He embarrassed himself. I’d be pissed also, but let it go. Nothing you can do about it now," one person commented.

Another wrote: "This says more about him than you. Don’t let some emotionally immature dingus shake you. You have a right to be annoyed, but don’t hold onto that hot stone."
