Bride slammed for giving stepdaughter ‘ridiculous’ wedding demand
A teenage girl has detailed the ‘ridiculous’ demand her future stepmother is trying to make for her upcoming wedding.
Taking to Reddit, the 15-year-old explained that two years after her mum died of cancer, her 42-year-old dad is now engaged to Alice, 28.
The user said that because Alice and her father started dating eight months after her mother passed away, she doesn’t really like her very much.
“I try to be as polite as I can whenever she's around or starts a conversation with me. Dad never forced me to have a relationship with her and I can also see that she's not interested in having one,” she wrote.
She went on to say that ahead of their wedding, Alice told her that she has a list of demands to make her wedding perfect.

“She said, ‘First, I want you to cut your hair short; second, you can’t wear heels and lastly, only wear light makeup and no fake lashes’.
“I said I can do the second and third but I will not be cutting my hair. My mom loves my hair and helped me grow it thick and healthy. I got my blonde wavy hair from my mom so I will keep it long.”
The teen claimed that Alice accused her of “wanting to upstage her” and called her a “selfish brat” for “disrespecting her”, and now her father has gotten involved.
“[He] told me to just cut my hair because it will grow back anyway. I said her request is ridiculous and I'd rather not attend their wedding than to cut my hair,” she wrote.
She also added that she thinks the demand is unfair because Alice hasn’t made any demands for her other female guests and she won’t accept it if her hair is simply tied back or in a bun. However, she is unsure of what to do because she wants to make her dad happy.
A number of users have commented on her Reddit post, with many insisting that the stepmother is the one who is in the wrong.
“Please do not cut your hair to cater to her craziness,” one person replied. “Also be careful and keep your eyes open, because I wouldn't be surprised if she resorted to trying to cut your hair herself.”
“She only wants you to cut your hair because she’s insecure and jealous. She’s worried that you will remind your father of your mother,” another added.
“Your body, your choice. If Alice is worried about being upstaged by a 15-year-old girl, she's got bigger issues than hairstyle,” someone else remarked.
A fourth joked: “Your dad is only telling you to acquiesce to cut your hair because Alice already successfully cut off his balls.”
The original poster has since replied to the comments, saying that she is “overwhelmed by the love and support” given.
“Thank you for the validation, I WILL NOT CUT MY HAIR,” she announced. “If it means not going to the wedding, then I will just stay with my mom's sister on that day.”
