A bride claims her mother tried to "steal the spotlight" from her — on her own wedding day.

In a post on Reddit's "Wedding Shaming" forum, a newlywed woman vented about how "very angry, shocked and disappointed" she is with her mother, who wore a "burlesque-type" dress at her wedding. The braless look was so "extremely low-cut" that her 200 guests "had a side view of her nipples when she passed by."

"Why did she pick my wedding day to come out as a stripper, when she’s been a wallflower her entire life!!" the poster wrote. "I am hurt, angry and disgusted. My husband thinks she’s a narcissist and showed her true colors."

The bride partially blames herself for not seeing the "inappropriate" dress before the big day, but she didn't think to do so because her mother "normally dresses conservatively." But in this case, her mother "wanted to be sexy."

"Apparently, she also walked so slow going down the aisle in church," the bride said. "The guests thought she had a wardrobe malfunction!"

She added: "Everybody was texting about her revealing dress and walking down the aisle in slow motion. She got attention, but it was all negative. People thought her gown was extremely tacky."

The mother said "she wanted all eyes on her" because she was paying for the wedding.

"For the record," the bride wrote, "my husband’s parents, as well as my husband and I, also helped pay for the wedding."

She continued: "This was supposed to be my day — why would my own mother try to steal the spotlight from me?"

Reddit users in the comments section understood why the bride didn't think to check what her mother was planning on wearing ahead of the wedding, but they said what's done is done and advised the poster to try to find a way to move on.

"You need to take a breath. Was it inappropriate — yes. Will it impact your marriage for the rest of your life? I hope not," one person commented wrote.

"Be mad, tell her you're pissed and then try to let it go," they advised. "If you need therapy to deal with it then do it. If you need/want to limit contact with her then do that too. How much mental space do you want this to take up in your life? Right now, it's a lot."
