Marking the feature directorial debut of producer Steve Barnett, the film watches as a routine mission goes awry when a U.S. army helicopter crashes deep within North Korean territory. A Monarch Media production written by Barnett and Eric Tipton, with counsel from former members of the U.S. Military, CIA and Department of Defense, Valiant One also stars Desmin Borges (Only Murders in the Building) and Callan Mulvey (The Grey Man). The film is produced by Bernie Goldmann and Alan Powell, and executive produced by Vicky Patel. Stokes served as co-executive producer.

Explained Barnett with regard to the film’s genesis, “My good friend, a Navy SEAL, recounted his harrowing helicopter incident over the DMZ and I was struck by a stark reality at the time: there existed only two nations, North Korea and China, where the US couldn’t intervene to rescue our troops. What a great set up for a film.” Added the filmmaker, “I’m incredibly grateful to my Monarch partners, Alan and Vicky, producer Bernie Goldmann, and this amazing cast and crew for helping bring to life a story about the underdog heroes in the military and the life and death challenges they can face.”

Stated Briarcliff CEO Tom Ortenberg, “Valiant One is exactly what audiences want out of a military film – gripping storyline, exhilarating and well-choreographed action, and of course compelling characters, which we have in Chase Stokes, Lana Condor and the rest of the cast. Audiences can expect to be immersed into Steve Barnett’s direction, experiencing every pulse-pounding moment as if they were right there themselves.”

Ortenberg and Jessica Rose negotiated the deal on behalf of Briarcliff Entertainment, with James Ellis of Ellis Law Partners on behalf of the filmmakers. Stokes is repped by UTA, People Store, Luber Roklin Entertainment, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman.
