When we think of our all-time favorite cookies, there’s one brand that’s usually top of mind: Oreo. Oreo has a way of staying in the spotlight, whether it's releasing limited-edition flavors or collaborating with other mega brands on hot new treats.

Around here, we’re big fans of all things Oreo. But, believe it or not, when it comes to shopping at Costco, the sandwich cookie doesn’t actually take the top spot in our carts.

What Is Costco’s Most Popular Cookie?

Recently, a study by CouponBirds revealed that the most-loved cookie at Costco was a more unexpected pick. Although it doesn’t regularly make headlines, it’s just as well-known as the classic chocolate cookie.

So, what’s Costco shoppers’ favorite sweet snack? Lotus Biscoff Cookies.

What Do Biscoff Cookies Taste Like?

We have to say, we’re not entirely surprised by this news. The Belgian caramelized biscuits offer a slightly sweet, deliciously spiced flavor and a melt-in-your-mouth texture. And while Oreo has successfully cornered the milk market as ‘milk’s favorite cookie,’ Biscoff cookies have honed in on more elevated pairings like coffee and tea, carving out its niche as a more sophisticated cookie.

Ever since Lotus Bakeries popularized the traditional shortcrust cookies, the signature speculoos flavor has become a global favorite for everything from airplane snacks to gourmet desserts. In fact, the classic spiced cookie flavor is so popular among Costco shoppers that the bakery released a Biscoff cookie butter cake several months ago in its honor—and fans called it a "12/10."

Buttery, crispy, and warmly spiced, Biscoff biscuits are one of the coziest cookies you can keep in your pantry. And, not only are they a satisfying snack, they’re also a super versatile ingredient. We love the caramel-flavored cookies crushed into a cheesecake crust, crumbled over vanilla ice cream, or ground into an irresistible cookie butter. The only problem? They “disappear in no time.”

“These are just the best,” said one online reviewer. “Please don't tell my wife, but I have been known to eat an entire sleeve in a single day. They are just that darn good.”

Costco offers Biscoff cookies in packs of four 8.8-ounce sleeves, giving you plenty of treats for snack breaks or baking projects. Plus, the family packs are frequently featured in the monthly Costco deals, so you can be sure you’re getting the best price on your favorite snack when you shop at the warehouse.

More of Costco's Most-Loved Snacks

Cookies weren’t the only snack considered in the CouponBirds study. The survey gathered over 145,000 customer ratings to determine the top 50 snacks Costco shoppers can’t leave the store without. Other top spots on the list went to Cheetos as Costco’s best chip, Kirkland Signature pecan halves as the top-rated nuts, and G2G Peanut Butter Coconut Chocolate Protein Bar as the shopper-favorite snack bar.

Oreos fell just slightly behind in second place of the cookie category, making them still deserving of shopping carts, but not quite the most popular pick in the snack section. Luckily, no matter which iconic cookie your loyalties fall to, Costco offers both top picks at the lowest price around.
