Pitt doesn't have any accounts on social media apps like X, Instagram or Facebook.

Earlier this month, a woman named Anne from France claimed that she was scammed by someone posing as both Pitt and his mother, Jane Etta Pitt, in a catfishing situation.

The woman claimed that someone pretending to be Pitt's mother contacted her on Instagram around two years ago, as reported by The Times, saying, "It’s a woman like you that my son needs." The news was first reported on the TF1 broadcast show Sept à huit.

The person posing as Pitt then contacted her, telling Anne, "My mother told me a lot about you.” The two started talking more, with the fake Pitt allegedly sending her poems and romantic notes, as well as photos and videos featuring the actor created through AI.

Anne reportedly started sending money to the person after they claimed that she needed to pay for customs tariffs on expensive gifts he sent her, including designer goods, with the publication claiming that the amount was more than €9,000, or almost $9,300.

The amount of money the alleged scammer asked for jumped when they told Anne they had kidney cancer and needed money to pay for treatment, claiming that their funds were blocked due to Pitt's ongoing divorce with Angelina Jolie. The former couple finally reached a divorce settlement in late December 2024.

Anne claimed that, by the time she realized the truth, the scammer had conned her out of €830,000, or over $850,000. She reportedly filed a criminal lawsuit for the scam, leading to a police inquiry, but it's unclear whether anything came of it.
