Blake Shelton Teaming Up With Taylor Sheridan for Surprising New Project

Blake Shelton may have walked away from The Voice but that isn’t because he doesn’t think that TV can play a role in developing new music stars. He does, so toward that end, he has partnered with Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan for a new unscripted series, The Road, which will premiere on CBS in fall 2025.

The name, The Road, describes what makes this series different than any other unscripted series to date in that it will feature singers joining a to-be-announced music star on tour, serving as the headliner’s opening act. They’ll compete to win over local fanbases and secure a spot in the next city on the tour.

“I’m a big fan of Taylor’s incredible work, and I’m excited to team with him and my long-time collaborator, Lee Metzger, on The Road,” Shelton said in a statement. “I know a thing or two about singing competitions and what it’s like to chase a music dream and live life on tour. I’m looking forward to discovering new talent and giving them this platform.”

Sheridan added, “There is a revolution taking place in country music. Building a platform with Blake for the next leaders of that revolution is an incredibly exciting venture. No more shiny floors and studio audiences. This is where the rubber meets the road — literally. Get in the van, go to the next town and win the crowd. Do it enough, and you become the next leader. Simple as that.”

In addition to watching the performances of the hopefuls, The Road will provide exclusive access to the behind-the-scenes workings of the music industry.
