Blake Lively has stunned on The Met Gala red carpet with an incredible dress reveal.

The actress, who attended the star-studded event with husband Ryan Reynolds, nailed the Gilded Glamour theme, wearing an Atelier Versace dusty pink metallic dress teamed with gloves and a tiara.

But as she moved across the red carpet the best was yet to come, with the Gossip Girl star unpinning the tails of her dress to reveal a stunning glittering blue gown with a long train.

Her dusty pink gloves also transformed into a pale blue.

People were stunned by the red carpet reveal, with people on Twitter naming her the "Queen of The Met Gala".

"She understood the assignment," one said.

"Just goes to show that Blake Lively NEVER EVER disappoints," another added.

People said the incredible gown was "iconic" and she donned the best look of the night.

Others were wowed by how seamlessly her gloves transformed colour.

"Oh wow that was magic," one said.

"Ok but how did her gloves change?" somebody questioned.

Other celebrities also stunned on the red carpet, with Vanessa Hudgens causing a stir with her naked sheer black gown.

The Met Gala was cancelled in 2020 due to the Covid pandemic and last year it was pushed back to September. But this year it is back at its traditional time on the first Monday in May.

Correctly known as the Costume Institute Benefit, The Met Gala is the glittering soirée thrown by Vogue editor Anna Wintour to rake in cash for the museum's costume department.

Held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York, it's a chance for fashion designers and A-list celebrities to come together for the opening of the museum's annual fashion exhibition.

Tickets cost around US$35,000 each, or around US$300,000 for a table, so that's no small change. And even if you have the money to spend, you have to be invited to go.
