How Bindi Irwin will honour late dad Steve's memory on her wedding day

She’s set to tie the knot to Chandler Powell next year at Australia Zoo and now Bindi Irwin has revealed how she will honour her late dad, Steve Irwin, at the ceremony.

The 21-year-old, who has been carrying on the Crocodile Hunter’s legacy since he passed away in 2006, revealed that her brother and mother will also be an integral part of the day.

“I really want to include Dad on the day and make sure that he is with us in some way,” Bindi told People.

“Just little bits of Dad that will make it feel like he’s there with us.”

She went on to say that her and Chandler are planning to hold a candle lighting ceremony.

“So we’ll be able to all get up as a little family and light a candle in his honour and share a few words on what an amazing dad he was and still is.”

Bindi announced her engagement to Chandler on her 21st birthday in July, after the couple had been dating for six years.

Chandler got down on one knee and popped the question to a clearly elated Bindi, who took to her social media page to make the happy announcement to her fans.

“July 24th 2019. On my birthday I said ‘yes’ and ‘forever’ to the love of my life,” Bindi announced on Instagram.

“Chandler, close to 6 years ago I fell in love with you and every day since has been a whirlwind of adventure and true happiness. I’m so looking forwarding to spending our forever together as your wife.

“Here’s to a lifetime of friendship, purpose and unconditional love. — Now let’s get married already!”

Bindi’s childhood sweetheart, 22-year-old Chandler, also took to his Instagram page to gush over his future wife, writing: “She said YES”.

“Almost 6 years ago we met at Australia Zoo. I immediately fell head over heels for your kind and thoughtful heart that radiates so much light. I love you more than anything in this world and I always will,” he said.

“Forever together sounds perfect.”

Just two weeks ago, Bindi gave her fans a sneak peek at her wedding dress on her Instagram.

Going by this photo, she’ll be clad in an ornate, long-sleeved, lace gown for the joyful day.
