Bindi Irwin reveals brother Rob's huge role in her upcoming wedding

Newly-engaged Bindi Irwin, 21, has taken to Instagram to reveal the huge role her younger brother Robert will play in her upcoming wedding to Chandler Powell.

The young conservationist has chosen 15-year-old photographer Rob to walk her down the aisle when she ties the knot with her American fiancé at Australia Zoo next year.

Steve’s spirit

The bride-to-be broke the news in a heartfelt post on Saturday, sharing two photos - the first a throwback family pic and the other more recent snap of herself, Chandler and Rob right after the couple got engaged.

For the caption, Bindi penned a touching open letter to her late dad, ‘Crocodile Hunter’ Steve Irwin, who passed away in 2006 when she was just eight years old.

“Dad, You would be so incredibly proud of Robert. He has been such an amazing support during this beautiful new life chapter,” she wrote.

“I know you’d be beaming with pride when the time comes that [Rob] walks me down the aisle. I wish you could be here for these moments, but I know that your spirit lives on in us,” she added.

A TV wedding

Back in July, Bindi admitted that she’d love to film her nuptials as part of the third season of her family’s reality TV show, Crikey! It’s the Irwins.

“That’ll be pretty cool, wouldn’t it?” she said, after confirming that the moment Chandler got down on one knee will be included in season two of the Animal Planet show.

Bindi also confirmed the location of the wedding, and the special connection it has with her father.

“The most important thing is getting married here at Australia Zoo because this is where I feel closest to Dad,” she said.

Proud mum Terri has also said that she believes Steve would have been over the moon about his daughter’s big news.
