It’s one of the happiest times for a family when someone gets engaged, and Terri Irwin believes Bindi’s late dad, Steve Irwin, would have been over the moon about his daughter’s big news.
Bindi took to her Instagram account last night to reveal that her boyfriend of six years, Chandler Powell, dropped to one knee and popped the question on her 21st birthday.
And now, her proud mum, Terri, has spoken out about how her dad would have felt about his baby girl’s announcement.
“Best day ever! Chandler asked and beautiful @BindiIrwin said yes. I am so very happy, and I know Steve would be too. Congratulations!!,” she wrote on Twitter.
The Australia Zoo star’s baby brother, Robert Irwin, also congratulated his big sister, saying he’s ‘beyond happy’ for the both of them.
“You are true soulmates and have always been so completely perfect for each other. Love you both and congratulations,: he wrote.
A clearly besotted Bindi posted a gushing post to her own Instagram page to show off her gorgeous engagement ring.
“July 24th 2019. On my birthday I said ‘yes’ and ‘forever’ to the love of my life,” Bindi started her post.
“Chandler, close to 6 years ago I fell in love with you and every day since has been a whirlwind of adventure and true happiness. I’m so looking forwarding to spending our forever together as your wife. Here’s to a lifetime of friendship, purpose and unconditional love. — Now let’s get married already!”
Special details in the ring
She went on to reveal that Chandler ethically sourced the ring, which suits her down to a tee.
“My heart is overflowing with gratitude, your kind comments mean the world to us,” she wrote.
“For those wondering about my ring, I’m so happy to share. My ring features a lab grown diamond and is made with rose gold recycled metal. Chandler was incredibly thoughtful when he chose it, the ring captures the essence of who I am (with its vintage flare) and our life together, with the twisted band and scattered diamonds.”
Bindi’s childhood sweetheart, 22-year-old Chandler, also took to his Instagram page to gush over his future wife, writing: “She said YES”.
“Almost 6 years ago we met at Australia Zoo. I immediately fell head over heels for your kind and thoughtful heart that radiates so much light. I love you more than anything in this world and I always will,” he wrote.
“Forever together sounds perfect.”
