Big W delivery fail leaves shopper with problem: 'Bloody annoying'

A Big W shopper has shared a problem she had with a recent delivery she received from the popular store after ordering some clothes for her son online.

Taking to a popular Big W Facebook group, the mum asked for advice after being unable to use one of the items.

"Does anyone know how to take security tags off clothes without ripping them?" she posted.

"My son's clothes just got delivered and there is a security tag left on one of the items."

Most people suggested the item in question could be returned to any store for staff members to remove them - upon proof of purchase.

"You can take them to any store... not just Big W to get them removed. It's happened to me before... so bloody annoying," one person said.

"If you're in lockdown call them up and ask them to send you another. And then you can return the one with the tag still attached," another suggested.

But there were also a few DIY suggestions from a few shoppers who had something similar happen.

"I used pliers and a hammer in the past to get them off but it took a while and a lot of patience," one person said.

"I had this a couple of weeks ago with Kmart. Smashed it off with a hammer," another admitted.

A slightly less destructive suggestion came from a former retail worker, who told the mum to try a "strong magnet and pliers".

A Big W spokesperson has confirmed to Yahoo Lifestyle that measures are being put in place to stop this from happening.

“We apologise to any customer who has mistakenly received an item delivered with security tags attached, and we are putting measures in place to ensure this doesn’t happen again," the spokesperson said in a statement.

"We encourage customers to either take the item to their local store with proof of purchase to have the tag removed, or alternatively they can contact our Customer Service team on 1300 244 999 who can arrange for a free returns label and the delivery of a replacement item.”
