Whoever declared the December holidays “cookie season” must not know the joys of a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie at 8 p.m. on a random Tuesday, or buying those deliciously soft Lofthouse cookies whenever you spot them at the store. Because, let’s be real—cookie season is all year long.

Nobody knows cookies are an everyday treat quite like General Mills and its baking brands, Betty Crocker and Pillsbury. Between the ready-to-bake Pillsbury cookie dough and Betty Crocker’s baking mixes, we can have a fresh batch of cookies out of the oven and in our stomachs in no time—and with very minimal effort.

While we don’t need an occasion to enjoy a cookie, that doesn’t stop brands from rolling out special seasonal offerings—and this Valentine’s Day is no different. General Mills has released new Pillsbury Red Velvet Cookie Dough with Oreo and three new Betty Crocker Oreo mixes for a limited time to celebrate the season.

Alongside the limited-edition seasonal launches, Betty Crocker has rolled out a new permanent line of mixes that prove you really don’t need an excuse to make cookies.

Betty Crocker's New Soft Baked Cookie Mixes

This month, Betty Crocker is introducing its new Soft Baked Cookie Mix line, which includes Birthday Cake Batter, Red Velvet, and Chocolate Caramel flavors, at retailers nationwide.

The Birthday Cake Batter cookie mix yields a cake batter-flavored cookie filled with rainbow sprinkles; the Red Velvet cookie mix is red velvet-flavored with white chocolate chips; and the Chocolate Caramel mix makes a chocolate cookie loaded with caramel chips.

Unlike Betty Crocker’s traditional baking mixes, which are crispy on the outside and gooey in the middle, the new dessert bakes into an ultra-soft bakery-style cookie. But, you won't have to call in a bakery order or spend a pretty penny for these cookies.

To make the soft-baked cookies, you’ll simply add 2 eggs, 1 stick of butter, and 1 tablespoon of water to the cookie mix. Then roll the dough into balls, place on a cookie sheet, and bake.

Betty Crocker recommends frosting the cookies for a true bakery experience—think Crumbl’s soft-baked cookies with over-the-top icing and toppings. That is, without Crumbl’s steep price tag ($42 for a dozen cookies)—Betty Crocker’s mix gives you about 24 cookies per bag for just $4.19.

While these three cookie mixes are Betty Crocker’s first time releasing permanent Soft Baked offerings, the brand recently sold Soft Baked Peppermint Sugar Cookie Mix and Soft Baked Chocolate Crinkle Cookie Mix during the holiday season. With easy-to-make, soft-baked cookies coming to the grocery store this month, it looks like Crumbl might have some serious competition.
