Ben Affleck Recruits Jeremy Strong in Hilarious New Dunkin’ Super Bowl Spot
DunKings assemble!
In a new spot ahead of Super Bowl LIX, head Bostonian and Dunkin’ Donuts Fan Club president Ben Affleck returned to assemble his donut dream team, enlisting the help of his brother Casey Affleck and none other than Succession’s Jeremy Strong.
The short teaser, which aired during Sunday’s Grammy Awards, begins with an exasperated Ben banging on Strong’s dressing room door, who Casey reminds is a “method actor” that’s just “doing his research”—a playful jab at The Apprentice star who’s known to dive head first into his roles.
When the two finally head into the room, Strong emerges from a Dunkin’ vat completely covered in gooey coffee grounds, typical fare for an artist trying to find their character.
“We’re doing a Dunkin Donuts commercial right? I’m just trying to find the character. I think I found a way in,” Strong says, hilariously earnest. “You’re from Boston. I’m from Boston. Dunkin’ is Boston. Boston is Paul Revere. One if by land, two if by sea. The Redcoats are coming.”
Ben then asks how long the totally serious and not at all alarming bean method will take, prompting Strong to say he needs three more hours in the vat.
“You should have paid for Matt,” Casey then quips, referring to Ben’s longtime friend Matt Damon whom he also recruited last year, along with NFL star Tom Brady, to form the fever-dream boyband DunKings for a Super Bowl LVIII commercial.
The donut chain’s full commercial will air during Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 2, where the Kansas City Chiefs are slated to play against the Philadelphia Eagles.
