Your bed is crying out for one these duvet covers this spring

Your bed needs one of these cosy duvet covers Rebecca Udall / Urban Outfitters

We spend over 200,000 hours of our life in bed, and that's not including the dedicated rot days where we spend extra hours cosying up in our favourite room of the house. And so with that many hours spent in bed, it's kinda essential you have the best bedding to sleep in.

Our top best bedding sets and duvet covers

And there's a lot to consider when it comes to bedding and duvet covers. Firstly, the look. The bed is often the biggest piece of furniture in a bedroom and therefore can set the tone of the room. It's a chance to experiment with bright patterns and bold prints, or if you prefer a minimal look it can then help to create a sense of calm in your room. Or do a mix and match approach and have a simple bedding (in a white or beige shade) and then accessorise with colourful throws and cushions.

Then of course, the actual material of the bedding needs to come into your decision. There's cotton, linen, silk or fleece bedding, and each gives a slightly different sleeping experience. Fleece bedding will keep you cosy all winter long, while linen is breathable and silk is ideal for keeping your hair and skin looking fresh while asleep.

When looking at bedding it used to be considered the higher the thread count the better, but in reality it doesn't matter that much. Ideally you want to be looking around 300 to 400 thread count for cotton bedding and around 400 to 600 thread count for silk based bedding.
