Will 'The Bear' End With Season 4?

FX’s dark dramedy The Bear has snowballed from an under-the-radar indie hit into one of the most acclaimed shows on TV. For the uninitiated, the series follows an award-winning chef (Jeremy Allen White) who returns home to Chicago to run his family’s struggling sandwich shop (The Beef), and takes on the ambitious task of turning it into a Michelin-star restaurant (The Bear) while grappling with the aftermath of his brother’s suicide.

The show’s much-anticipated third season dropped on Wednesday, June 26, and there's more good news for Berzatto fans, because a fourth season is already on the way.

Here's everything we know so far about The Bear Season 4, including cast and release-date timeframe.

Is there going to be a Season 4 of The Bear?

Although FX is yet to officially renew The Bear, the show was “secretly” renewed for a fourth season earlier this year, per Variety. This essentially means that the show was renewed behind-the-scenes, because its fourth season was filmed back-to-back with its third, but FX is holding back the public announcement until after Season 3 premieres.

Who is cast in The Bear Season 4?

While the Season 4 cast list hasn’t yet been confirmed, it’s likely that the Season 3 ensemble will all return, which means:

Moss-Bachrach plays Richard "Richie" Jerimovich, the abrasive but loyal longtime best friend of Carmy’s late brother Mikey, who’s so close to the Berzatto family that he’s famously known as “cousin.” Moss-Bachrach, who prior to this role was best known to TV fans as Desi in Girls, won a 2023 Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy.

Abby Elliott

Saturday Night Live alum Elliot plays Natalie "Sugar" Berzatto, Carmy and Mikey’s sister, who spends a lot of (justified) energy worrying about her surviving brother’s mental health. As of Season 2, she was also pregnant with a child of her own, adding a new layer to the Berzattos’ complex family dynamics.

Bernthal has a small but pivotal role as Carmy and Nat’s late brother Mikey, typically appearing in just one episode per season in flashbacks.

Will The Bear end with Season 4?

It’s unclear how many seasons The Bear will run for, or if Season 4 will be its last. Back in March when it was announced that Seasons 3 and 4 would be filmed back-to-back, Deadline noted that the move had “raised speculation” that Season 4 would be The Bear’s last, since another acclaimed FX comedy series, Atlanta, recently ended its run after filming its last two seasons back-to-back.

Has The Bear Season 4 already been shot?

Yes, by the sounds of it, filming on Season 4 has already been completed. “We wrapped a couple of weeks ago,” Jeremy Allen White confirmed during a press conference on June 24. Seasons 3 and 4 of The Bear were shot back-to-back, and production began on Feb. 26, 2024.

Is there a release date for The Bear Season 4?

Not yet. Based on the show’s previous release schedule, it’s possible that the fourth season will premiere sometime in the summer of 2025. That said, considering that the season has already been filmed, it may premiere earlier.
