Featuring original music as well as updated takes on Barney & Friends classics, Barney’s World will premiere Monday, Oct. 14 on Max, followed by a linear premiere on Cartoon Network on Friday, Oct. 18. Additionally, select episodes will be available on YouTube, where the premiere will debut early, on Friday, Oct. 11, in specific countries.
Jonathan Langdon of Run the Burbs and (earmuffs, kids!) NOS4A2 voices the titular T.rex; watch the trailer above and share your first impression of Barney’s new voice.
The iconic, live-action Barney & Friends originally aired from 1992 to 2010, with 248 episodes produced. The new Barney’s World is similarly set in a playground, where Barney is joined by dinos Billy and Baby Bop and their three kid (human) best friends David, Mel, and Vivie.
“Through action-packed, music-filled adventures together, Barney helps the kids and audiences explore big preschool emotions,” says the synopsis, “showing them how to love themselves, others, and their communities.”
Rolling out weekly, Barney’s World‘s 11-minute episodes feature faces both familiar and new, including Baby Bop (Bryn McAuley of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood), a charming and opinionated dinosaur who is an advocate for all feelings, no matter how big or small; Billy (Jonathan Tan of My Little Pony: Tell Your Tale), an energetic dino who loves action and loud sounds; David (Jayd Deroché of Dino Ranch), an empathetic, self-aware and caring kid who loves giving big hugs; Mel (Diana Tsoy of CoComelon Lane), who is from Korean and Mexican heritage and loves to share her culture with her friends; and Vivie (newcomer Ella Paciocco), who is wildly creative and lives with her Nonna.
