Speaking to comedian Heather McMahan on E! "I feel like they just get a bad rap for dudes," Zimmerman continued. "And honestly, who doesn't want to be tan? And a ginger like myself, we have a hard time tanning! So it makes me feel better and I'm going to stick with 'we should legalize tans.'"
Elsewhere on the red carpet, Zimmerman, dubbed "country's bad boy," opened up about his ADHD diagnosis. "It's a superpower," Tanner Adell said.
Zimmerman agreed, saying "Teachers hated me. Now, they're like 'Oh Bailey, we love your songs!'"
Zimmerman is up for male artist of 2024 and social country star of 2024 tonight at the People's Choice Country Awards.
Zimmerman went viral on TikTok in 2021. His famed breakup song "Rock and a Hard Place" had one of the biggest runs for a new act in Billboard's Country Airplay chart and his debut LP, Religiously. The Album, which dropped in the spring of 2023 cemented his spot in the country music scene.
The 2024 PCCAs will air live on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 8 p.m. ET/PT across NBC and Peacock from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville.
