Bailey Zimmerman Apologizes After 'Awful' Drunk Performance at Music Festival: 'I Let Y'all Down'

Bailey Zimmerman has issued an apology to fans after he performed drunk at the Crash My Playa music festival in Cancún, Mexico.
Three days after the performance, which went viral on social media thanks to the country star’s off-key singing, Zimmerman shared a video to Instagram admitting that while he was “embarrassed” by the situation, he’d been raised to “hit my problems head-on.”
“I’d like to talk about something that’s been eating me alive. Last weekend, down in Cancún, Mexico, I’m sure everybody’s seen the videos of me playing absolutely awful and singing absolutely awful and I feel like you guys deserve an explanation from me because you’ve had my back through the highs and lows and through every mistake,” he said.
The “Rock and a Hard Place” singer, 24, explained that he’d been drinking earlier in the day, which he now knew was a “mistake.”
“I got up on stage, and I was too drunk to play. And I sang awful, I played awful,” he said. “Nobody got the show that they wanted or paid for. And I’m disappointed in myself.”
Zimmerman went on to say that while "embarrassed" by the performance, he is now focused on making sure that he doesn’t repeat his mistakes.
“I want to show you guys the person that I truly am. So I’m just asking for a little bit of grace,” he said. “Man, growing up is interesting. It’s not an excuse, but man, thank you to everybody that’s got my back. Thank you for staying, thank you for showing me love and grace, and we’re gonna crush this year. But yeah, I just wanted to say I’m sorry. I fricken’ love you guys more than anything in the world and I don't want to lose you. So forgive me, and I love you.”
In the caption of his post, Zimmerman added that he “let myself down” and was “so sorry to everybody,” but vowed to “be better.”
His post received supportive comments from singers like Chase Rice, who commented, “Been there dude. Learn from it and move on, proud of you for owning it, now go be the star you are.”
Zimmerman performed eight songs at Crash My Playa on Jan. 18, and was visibly drunk onstage as he performed shirtless in swim trunks. One video shows him jumping from the stage.
Later in the night, though, he redeemed himself after Luke Bryan welcomed him back to the stage, where the two performed a cover of Florida Georgia Line’s “This Is How We Roll.”
“My mother got him drunk today,” Bryan told the crowd of his mom LeClaire and Zimmerman.
Zimmerman recently announced his New to Country Summer Tour, which will kick off in June and go through September.
