Warning: This post contains spoilers for Bad Sisters‘ Season 2 finale.

Against improbable odds, Bad Sisters‘ Season 2 ends on a happy note. Mostly.

Though the Garvey siblings mourn the loss of their sister, Grace, they’re successful in getting back at the (most recent) man who hurt her. They’ve also managed to evade jail time and/or any other law-breaking consequences for their actions throughout the season, which is an almost bigger cause for celebration. (After all, they thought they’d killed not one but two people, both of whom later conveniently turned up alive.)

In the finale’s final moments, the family — Eva; Ursula; Blánaid; Bibi and Nora; and Becka, Joe and their baby — goes down to the water’s edge to say a final farewell to Grace. (Read a full recap.) When TVLine spoke with series star/executive producer Sharon Horgan, she mentioned that she’d originally had at least one more person in the mix for the memorial.

“I did sort of toy with the idea of, one version had Eileen there at the end,” she said, laughing. “You know, her menopause trainer.”

The character Horgan referenced appeared earlier in of the season and served as an indicator of Eva’s being in a good place: She’d quit drinking, she was running, and she was working on the next big transition in life with the aid of a coach. In at least one version of the finale, even if it never made it past Horgan’s musings, “it was like, ‘Maybe they should fall in love,'” she said. “But it felt like too much.”

As the episode stands, “it’s so concentrated, the emotion in that moment, on Grace and on everything in their past,” Horgan noted.

Plus, as the second season closes, Eileen’s presence at the goodbye to Grace isn’t necessary to signal that Eva has picked herself up and dusted herself off. “I do feel, at the end, she back to where she’s sort of [OK],” Horgan added. “When we get to [Episode] 8, she’s back where she should be, with Blánaid and getting her life back on.”
