“At 8:15pm last night we sadly lost our amazing Dad, Brian. Our hearts are broken yet again but are trying to take solace in that he is no longer fighting or in any pain.

“My brother Luke, myself and loved ones have been by his side during this devastating time, sharing memories of the beautiful man, father and husband that he was, he lived an amazing life loved by so many.

“With all of our broken hearts we were so lucky to have him as our Dad and role model. We know that right now he’s back with the love of his life, our Mum and they are both watching over their sons with smiles. Thank you to everyone for all the love and support it means so much to us both.”

While Jake didn’t specify how old his dad was nor the cause of death, Daily Mail claims Brian was ‘in his seventies’ and, after undergoing a double lung transplant ‘several years ago’ was living in a care home.

His health had reportedly deteriorated significantly following his wife Robyn’s passing in January 2018.

Just a week before his dad died, Jake told Who magazine that Brian was ‘very unwell’ with aggressive skin cancer and also suffered from dementia.

Along with his touching message, Jake shared a black and white photo of himself with his late father and his brother, Luke.

The reality TV star’s friends flooded the comments with condolences and well wishes, including former Bachelorette, Georgia Love, who lost her own mum to pancreatic cancer in 2017.

“Oh Jake, I’m so so sorry. Life has been so cruel to you boys and your beautiful parents. I am only thankful he is with Robbie and the knowledge they will both be so happy and proud of you. Big love, I’m so sorry,” she wrote.

Jake was one of the more promising suitors on Georgia’s season of the dating show and made it to hometowns week but in the end, he lost out to her now-fiancé, Lee Elliott.

Lee also shared his ‘sincerest condolences’: “He was a brave strong man and would be so proud of the man you’ve become,” he wrote.

Jake, who is a proud ambassador for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, shared a clip of Georgia meeting his parents on The Bachelorette to Instagram in honour of his late mum on Mother’s Day.

“Words will never express how lucky I am to have had such an amazing Mother, but moments like this scream a thousand words of how special she was and will always be,” he wrote.

Jake bowed out of the current season of Bachelor In Paradise in the hopes of rekindling his relationship with his ex, Megan Marx, who he hooked up with on the first season of the show in 2018. The pair appeared to call it quits in March 2019 but are rumoured to have re-coupled after Jake returned from Fiji.
