'Moving on was all too easy': Bachelor's Elly Miles' European fling

Australia teared up this week when astrophysicist Matt Agnew chose to send the bright and bubbly Elly Miles home in yet another drama-filled episode of The Bachelor.

While viewers might be wiping their eyes, the blonde beauty from country NSW is currently living her best life - complete with overseas getaways and new romance - as she tells Yahoo Lifestyle.

Elly’s post-Bachie life

After Wednesday night’s shock exit, the 24-year-old nurse took to Instagram to share a bronzed and smiley vacay snap from the “life changing trip” to Europe she went on post-show.

But don’t think that Elly’s overseas getaway had anything to do with her heartbreak over Matt.

“My sister and I had this Europe trip planned far, far in advance,” she tells us.

The Bachelor wasn’t even a thing on my mind, [the trip] just happened to be an amazing coincidence. It really couldn’t have come at a better time,” she adds.

And, as Elly revealed to 10 daily, her European escape also involved a bit of romance in the form of “a few flings”.

“Honestly it was fine!” she says when asked if it was difficult to leave her feelings for Matt behind.

“You come out of [The Bachelor] and it’s almost like it hasn’t happened. It hasn’t really changed anything for me so moving on was all too easy,” she explains.

While she admits to “picturing Matt in my future” at the time, today she has a different perspective.

“I think Matt and I were just too different at the end of the day,” she says.

“Matt’s very much a city boy and we just weren’t as suited to each other as he is with the other girls,” she adds.

Someone like last year’s Bachelor, country boy and adventurer Nick ‘Honey Badger’ Cummins is more her type, she says.

What Elly really thinks of Abbie

In what would be their final single date, Elly chose to express to Matt her concern over fellow bachelorette Abbie’s intentions, which many viewers said ‘soured’ their connection.

Others called her the ‘new Sogand,’ while Matt himself branded it “unsettling,” but Elly tells us that she doesn’t have any regrets.

“I try not to dwell on what I should and shouldn’t have done,” she says.

While she admits avoiding the topic “would’ve saved me a lot of stress, and saved Abbie a lot of backlash,” she had the best intentions at heart.

“In the moment I was doing what I thought was best. I was trying to do the right thing by Matt,” she explains.

Despite their fierce on-screen rivalry, Elly has no hard feelings toward her one-time love rival.

“Looking back, I’ve got no doubt that Matt and Abbie have a really strong connection, as he does with the other girls as well. I can see him with anyone at the end of it,” she says.

Elly for The Bachelorette 2020

Immediately after she failed to receive a rose, social media exploded with countless calls for Elly to be cast as next year’s Bachelorette - and she says she’d be up for it.

“I’d definitely consider it,” she reveals, adding that it would all depend on where she was at in life, and if she was single at the time.

So, does that mean Elly is loved-up at the moment?

“No, I am single,” she confirms.

As for an appearance on Bachelor In Paradise, the Parkes-born babe is far less enthused.

“No, I wouldn’t go on Bachelor In Paradise,” she says firmly.

“I just feel like it’d be a bit too much for me,” she adds.

After a six-month hiatus, Elly is currently back working as a nurse and, as she wrote on Instagram, “can’t wait to see what the future has in store!”

Back on the show, Matt is set to tackle the series’ highly-anticipated hometown dates with his top four: Abbie, Chelsie McLeod, Helena Sauzier and Emma Roche.

The Bachelor airs 7.30 Wednesday and Thursday on 10 and 10 play.
