“Bachelor” Alum Prince Lorenzo Borghese Is Engaged to Model Dasha Melgarejo: 'It Was Worth the Wait'

Borghese shared that he popped the question to his girlfriend during a private “champagne cruise" in Bora Bora

Wedding bells are in the future for The Bachelor alum Prince Lorenzo Borghese!

Borghese, 52, announced on Instagram on Tuesday, July 16 that he popped the question to model Dasha Melgarejo during a boating trip in Bora Bora.

The television personality documented the trip in an Instagram video that shows him and Melgarejo setting off on a “champagne cruise." He added in the lengthy caption that they were part of a larger group vacationing to celebrate his mother’s 80th birthday, but he made sure to book a private boating trip for just the two of them.

Prior to the boat ride, Borghese shared he initially had to hide the ring in his underwear because the box was too noticeable in his pocket. Once they got on the boat he was able to hide the ring “behind a pillow” in the cabin until it was time to propose.

As the sun began to set over the horizon, the former reality star wrote that the boat’s captain cut the engine and turned the vessel toward the sunset. To set the mood for the proposal, he connected his phone to the boat’s speaker system via Bluetooth and played one of his playlists.

“My playlist isn’t ideal for a romantic moment. Between songs of the Grateful Dead and some rap, I wonder when will be the perfect time,” Borghese continued in his caption. “And just as the sun is setting, [IZ’s 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow'] begins to play. It’s perfect.”

“I tell Dasha I want to take pictures for South Beach Brewing and I ask her to put a baseball cap on and look down,” he continued. “I then propose.”

The couple can be seen each holding a glass of champagne as Borghese gets down on one knee. He then takes out the black box and unveils the ring as the pair bends down on their knees and share a kiss and hug as he slides the ring on her finger.

Borghese went on to share that when he and Melgarejo returned to the cruise ship his family were on, they surprised the couple with a “cocktail party” and a “room decorated for the occasion” with balloons and streamers. In the video, his family can be heard cheering as they throw confetti at the newly engaged couple, who hug once again.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better group to share this with and I couldn’t have picked a better person to spend the rest of my life with. Cheers to a new and exciting chapter! I love you all and thank you for making this day so special,” he wrote.

“And to Dasha, these two years with you have been amazing. I love everything about you. Your love of animals, your kindness and patience and always being there for me!,” he concluded the post. “It was worth the wait!”

It's unclear how long Borghese and Melgarejo have been dating, but he initially revealed their romance on social media in April, when he wished her a "happy birthday," alongside a carousel of photos of them together.

Since then, she has featured prominently on his page, appearing on his travels around the world to places like France and Miami, Florida.

Borghese appeared on The Bachelor in season 9. Since then, he has taken part in the 2012 season of Celebrity Big Brother UK and started his own line of pet grooming products called Royal Treatment.
