ATX TV Festival To Honor Christine Baranski With TV Excellence Award; 2025 Lineup To Include First-Ever Live Late Night Show

EXCLUSIVE: Christine Baranski will be honored with the Achievement in Television eXcellence Award at this year’s ATX TV Festival in Austin.

As such, the festival will feature an award presentation and a conversation to celebrate her decades-long career across television, film and stage — which, of course, will include her Emmy-winning performance on Cybill, her 13-year run as high-powered attorney Diane Lockhart on The Good Wife and The Good Fight, and her current role as socialite Agnes Van Rhijn on HBO’s historical drama The Gilded Age.

Baranski follows in the footsteps of television legends who have received this honor over the years, including Norman Lear, Henry Winkler, James L. Brooks, Marcy Carsey, Phylicia Rashad, Michael J. Fox, Lesli Linka Glatter, and James Burrows.

“Whether her characters are delivering a quick-witted barb, a compelling legal argument, or a look worth 1,000 words – Christine’s presence and range as a performer is truly singular. As a 15-time Emmy nominee and winner for roles on Cybill, Frasier, The Good Wife, The Good Fight, and The Gilded Age, her ability to tap into comedy, drama, surrealism, and everything in between speaks to her ability to elevate each role and series she is a part of. Her excellence is simply undeniable, which is why we are honored to celebrate her exceptional TV career and cultural impact with the ATX TV Festival’s Achievement in Television eXcellence award,” Jennifer Morgan, VP of Programming, said in a statement.

The festival also announced some new additions to the 2025 lineup on Wednesday. This year, ATX will host a special screening of You Belong Here, an independently-produced series from Macaroni Art Productions, founded by Steve Zahn (Silo, The White Lotus) and Rick Gomez (Silo, Band of Brothers).

The unscripted series follows James Beard-nominated chef and restaurateur Ouita Michel as she takes viewers on a journey through Kentucky cuisine, culture, and community.

Following the screening, Zahn, Gomez, and Michel will join for a conversation about the project, as well as the overall independent TV landscape.

The festival also announced a live late night show hosted by Last Week Tonight and The Late Show writer Greg Iwinski, who will be joined by Jim Fagan and a team of veteran late night writer-performers for the show. This is a first of its kind for ATX, which promises music, special guests, and more.

Season 14 of ATX Festival will run from May 29 to June 1 in Austin, Texas. Previously announced programming includes:
