Apple event 2023: Live updates on iPhone 15 Pro, new Apple Watches and USB-C everything
Join us for the latest news from the Steve Jobs Theater!
Once again, we found ourselves at Steve Jobs Theater in Apple Park, waiting for the company to unveil new hardware. But unlike WWDC earlier this year, there was much less hype. Instead of a mixed reality headset that was a first for the company, this time we only really got new iPhones and Apple Watches — things that Tim Cook and friends have spent so many years refining that it's hard to imagine them looking drastically different.
The keynote took place on September 12 at 1pm ET (or 10am PT). As ever, we gave it the full liveblog treatment live from Cupertino. The full blow-by-blow lives below, as does a comprehensive list of all the stories our team published about the company's new phones and watches.
News and product announcements from the Apple event
Here's a roundup of everything announced at the Apple Event, including the iPhone 15, USB-C, Apple Watch Series 9 and more.
The new Apple Watch Series 9 is equipped with a neural engine that enables offline Siri access. This means you don't need your iPhone nearby to interact with Siri on the Apple Watch anymore.
Apple spent a lot of time during its keynote talking about its environmental bonafides. The company is ditching leather for a material called FineWove as part of its efforts.
The new Apple Watch has a feature called Double Tap, giving you customizable gesture control.
The latest version of watchOS, watchOS10, brings widgets and will be available to download on September 18.
The Apple Watch Ultra, which debuted last year, is getting a sequel. The Apple Watch Ultra 2 brings an extra-bright display and Apple's new S9 chip.
As rumored, Apple's iPhone 15 has a USB-C port and the Dynamic Island, not to mention a 48-megapixel camera.
What makes the iPhone 15 Pro different from the basic iPhone 15? It has a titanium case and 5x zoom on the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Under the hood inside the new iPhone 15 Pro is Apple's new A17 Pro, a 3nm chip.
Our commerce team put together a handy guide explaining how and where to pre-order the new iPhone 15 (and also the new Apple Watches and AirPods Pro).
Apple had some gaming news at its keynote today: Assassin's Creed Mirage, Death Stranding and Resident Evil Village are coming to iPhone 15 Pro.
More gaming news! The Backbone One Android controller now supports iPhone 15.
The next-gen version of macOS, macOS Sonoma, arrives on September 26.
With every Apple event, the company kills off at least one older product. This time it's the iPhone 13 mini, Apple's last small phone (or at least the last small iPhone worth owning).
Turns out, there was at least some news about the forthcoming Vision Pro headset: The iPhone 15 Pro can take 3D spatial videos for Vision Pro users.
Good news for people with especially large media libraries: iCloud+ is adding new 6TB and 12TB storage tiers.
More on Apple's next-gen camera tech: The company used 'tetraprisms' to cram a 120mm lens into the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
