AnnaLynne McCord's 'tone-deaf' Putin post over Ukraine slammed

Former 90210 star AnnaLynne McCord has shared a video calling for peace between Russia and Ukraine, but people on social media are blasting it for being "tone-deaf".

The video, which features the actress performing a spoken-word poem, has been likened to Gal Gadot's infamous 'Imagine' video from 2020.

"Dear President Vladimir Putin, I’m so sorry that I was not your mother," AnnaLynne begins the video, which has already been viewed over 11 million times. "If I was a mother, you would have been so loved, held in the arms of joyous light.

"Never would this story’s plight, the world unfurled before our eyes, a pure demise of nation sitting peaceful under the night sky. If I was your mother, the world would have been warm."

She continued, saying that he must have experienced "soul-stealing pain" as a child.

"If I was your mother, if the world was cold, I’d have died to make you warm... I’d have died to give you life," she said, adding she "cannot believe" she was born "too late" to be his mother.

"I know if I was your mother, that would be a start toward the awareness of what a powerful being of light you could be. I cannot believe I was born too late, in a different place."

The video generated hundreds of comments with one person saying: "Just sing 'Imagine' next time. It's easier than whatever this is."

"SAME tone-deaf energy as this BS from the start of the pandemic," another user said, sharing the 'Imagine' video.

"This is worse than making a petition," someone else wrote.

"No power on earth can force me to turn on the sound on that Annalynne McCord video," one user joked.

"Never thought I would log into Twitter and see AnnaLynne McCord (of 90210 fame) reciting slam poetry to Putin," another said.

"This will definitely stop him! You are so strong and brave AnnaLynne McCord," someone else sarcastically wrote. "Yeah, this will most likely work," another jokingly agreed.

"Thank you for stopping the war with poetry," yet another added.

Some, however, supported the actress with one user writing, "Ignore the haters, queen. Don't let them stop you from pouring your heart out."
