It's been exactly one year since Angus Cloud died in his family home in California after an accidental overdose, and the love for him among his former castmates remains strong.

In the days that followed the 25-year-old's death, tributes poured in to honor and remember him both from the cast of Euphoria, in which he starred as Fezco (a.k.a. "Fez"), and from stars who worked with him on various other projects.

Maude Apatow, Zendaya and Javon Walton were among the actors Cloud had the most scenes with on the hit HBO series, and Apatow called her onscreen love interest "the funniest person ever" while Zendaya reflected on his "infinite beauty."

Apatow wrote on Instagram that "getting to know and work with [Cloud] was one of the greatest joys and blessings of my life," as she talked about the bond they shared.

"I would get so excited to see on the schedule that we would be working together because I knew we’d have the best day, laughing so hard. He was the sweetest and made everyone around him so happy. He was just the best. Words can’t really capture how magical of a person he was. My heart is broken."

Zendaya, meanwhile, posted a sweet black-and-white photo of Cloud, writing alongside it, "I’m so grateful I got the chance to know him in this life, to call him a brother, to see his warm kind eyes and bright smile, or hear his infectious cackle of a laugh (I’m smiling now just thinking of it)," the actress, who plays the show's protagonist Rue, continued.

"I know people use this expression often when talking about folks they love…' they could light up any room they entered' but boy let me tell you, he was the best at it. I’d like to remember him that way. For all of the boundless light, love and joy he always managed to give us. I’ll cherish every moment."

Zendaya later told PEOPLE that Cloud "felt like a little brother instantly; ironic because we played characters with the exact opposite dynamic."

"I’m lucky because I got to experience the most beautiful parts of him. I got to watch him create and I got to watch him discover the fact that he was an actor," she added. "A damn good one at that, and as many times as I would tell him or compliment his performance, I don’t think he ever truly believed it."

Walton shared a photo hugging the actor, who played his older brother on the show, writing in the caption simply, "rest easy brother ❤️ 🕊️ ."

Euphoria stars Sydney Sweeney and Hunter Schafer also paid tribute to him on social media, with Schafer admitting she was struggling to "figure out what to say" as she didn't know if "any combination of words can articulate all of the big feelings."

"Angus was a sunshine. to have known his warmth, his light, and his love was nothing short of a gift. i’m so grateful to have shared so many enormous fits of laughter, so many sweet moments, and the joy of getting to make something together that we loved so much," Schafer, 25, who plays Rue's love interest Jules, wrote on Instagram. "I love you angus 💗 thank you for everything."

In April, Schafer said that Cloud's death is still "really surreal" in an interview with GQ. "It doesn't make sense. And yeah, it's new. It's a new kind of grieving," she said, noting she's "never had a friend that I was that close to and that was my age pass before."

The grief hits her "randomly," the actress added, calling Cloud "one of the heartbeats of Euphoria."

Sweeney similarly reflected on the loss months later, telling Glamour in December that she and her costars were "constantly on the phone with each other crying" in the days after they heard the news "because it was just such a shock."

I don’t think it’ll truly feel real or hit me until we’re filming and I won’t see Angus on set,” she said, referring to the long-awaited third season of Euphoria, which is now confirmed to start filming in January 2025. “[At least] when we are filming, all of our eyes are on each other and we’re there for each other, just in a different way than we’re able to when we’re all in very separate places in the world.”

After hearing the news of his death, Sweeney, who plays Cassie Howard on the show, posted a carousel of photos with Cloud from the set of the show and beyond on Instagram as she called him an "open soul with the kindest heart" and called it "the hardest thing I've ever had to post."

"You will be missed more than you know, but I'm so blessed to have known you in this lifetime, and I'm sure everyone who has ever met you feels the same. This heartache is real and I wish we could've had one more hug and 711 run. All my love is with you."

Dominic Fike, meanwhile, gave his former costar a shoutout during a concert as he said that hearing the news "f---ed [him] up."

"I think people have like, wavelengths, and if you zoom out far enough, maybe some people you’d see — probably not a lot of us at all — but I think if you zoomed out millions of miles, you would see this kid’s spark," Fike said, per TMZ. "You know, you could see it from so far away, even if it was a short flash. He would light up a room, any room he walked in. He’s a f---ing good dude."

Storm Reid, who plays Rue's younger sister Gia, wrote on Instagram that she was "never gonna forget about" Cloud, who she said was "SO loved."

"I've always respected your kindness, tomfoolery and ability to take up space. Wish we could've shared the screen together."

On the first anniversary of his death, Reid reshared her original tribute to Cloud alongside a message. "somehow it's been a year but it feels the same. you're so missed and loved. continue to watch over us! send me good vibrations today pls ❤️ 🫀🥺🎥🕊️," she shared on her Instagram Stories.

Colman Domingo, who guest stars on Euphoria as Rue's sponsor, told PEOPLE after Cloud's death that he was "pure light and joy" but "also a little odd, which is what I loved about him."

"He was like the pied piper in a way. So he always had new people around him because he was interesting, quirky and funny, real sweet, and also very real," Domingo shared. “He didn't know how to not be himself, and that's what I appreciated so much. And I think there's a huge loss of that.”

In February, the actor said the cast had frequently spent time together "to grieve, to mourn, to laugh and enjoy all the things we know about Angus" in the months since his death.

"He was a wild one. I love him. He was a wild little brother. He was just sweet and funny and warm and odd at the same time. And I love people like that," he told Vanity Fair.

Several of his non-Euphoria costars paid tribute to him, too, including Downton Abbey alum Dan Stevens, who worked with him on the horror film Abigail.

Calling him a "little brother on set," Stevens told Entertainment Tonight that it was "heartbreaking to lose him" and that he "was absolutely terrific in the movie and it was a joy getting to work with him."

“I think just that he was brilliantly smart [and] emotionally intuitive in a way that was almost freaky. He could feel everything that was going on,” Wolff said. "He was so sweet and so filled with love."

Calling the late actor "one of the most gifted people that's ever lived," Wolff added, "I think about him every day."
