Angelina Jolie Was Almost Unrecognizable With Curly Hair on the Red Carpet
We did a triple take.
Like her wardrobe, Angelina Jolie's beauty look is unfailing. Rarely deviating from her usual natural lip, sleek blowout, and glowing skin, the actress has her glam routine down to a science. But at last night's premiere of her new film, Maria, at the 2024 AFI Film Festival in Los Angeles, Jolie decided it was time for a change.
For the occasion, Jolie's outfit stuck to the status quo and consisted of a silky, champagne-colored gown with a high neckline and darting at the bodice, which was topped off with a black shawl jacket that effortlessly draped around her body. She accessorized with pearl drop earrings, a matching bracelet, and a pair of pointed-toe pumps in a neutral shade.
Her glam, on the other hand, took a bold departure, with Jolie opting for a bright red lip that matched her manicure and big curls in place of her signature straight hair. Adding to the Old Hollywood glam of her look, the Oscar-winner's light brown strands were styled in voluminous ringlets with a sweeping side part.
Back in September, Jolie initially debuted her curly locks on the cover of CR Fashion Book. For the fashion spread, her hair appeared larger-than-life with tight tendrils styled in a middle part and were blown around her from every angle.
On the red carpet, Jolie spoke about the similarities between herself and her character in the film, opera singer Maria Callas—and her answer was a bit unexpected.
"I know there are certain things that people would assume from the distance that we have in common, but I think what we have in common maybe is that we share a certain loneliness in kind of sometimes doing our work where we're the one, I don't know, up at night, alone, trying to figure something out," she told People, adding, "I don't want to speak too much about it because it's too personal, but there's definitely a loneliness and a work ethic."
