Andrea Bocelli's wife Veronica Berti Bocelli feels secure in her relationship.

The Italian tenor's wife and manager opened up about her feelings toward Andrea's close interactions with women onstage in Andrea Bocelli: Because I Believe, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on Saturday, Sept. 7.

"People ask me, 'Aren't you jealous?' No. I'm not," Veronica, 40, says of her husband, 65, in the documentary.

"It would be silly. If it's a nice person, someone pleasant, whom you can sing about love with and be inspired from, all the better."

Veronica assured fans that she's "confident enough not to be affected by it. To this day."

Directed by Cosima Spender (Palio), Andrea Bocelli: Because I Believe "tracks Bocelli’s path to success and ongoing dedication to his craft through interviews and archival performance footage, as well as informal gatherings, such as a diverting party where Bocelli’s friends and family reminisce over food and wine," according to the film's description.

It adds, "When Bocelli sings, it is as though heaven has opened its gates, but watching Because I Believe reminds us that this remarkable artist is very much rooted in the earth."

Speaking to PEOPLE at the film festival, Spender says that she "loved observing" their "incredible relationship.

"It's a great partnership," she says, adding that he "trusts her completely" to handle his life and career. "Veronica is really formidable."

Adding, "There's a strong patriarchal culture in Italy, which doesn't necessarily want women to flourish. It doesn't encourage them to flourish, but... his wife is flourishing. She's really good at what she does, and she's enabled... he's totally trusting her. I think that's really beautiful."

Andrea met Veronica in 2002 and they dated for more than a decade before getting married.

They welcomed daughter Virginia in 2012 and officially got married two years later. Andrea also has two sons, Amos and Matteo, from his previous marriage.

"We've lived together almost 22 years now, and, at least at the beginning, spent 24 hours a day [together]," Veronica told PEOPLE in March 2023. "Sometimes we don't necessarily agree on the path, but we always agree on the aim. We rely on each other."

In 2018, Andrea opened up to PEOPLE about the magic that keeps their love alive.

"If there's chemistry between two people, then there is poetry, there is harmony, there is mutual understanding — there is love; if not, nothing," he said.

He also emphasized the importance of physical connection. "If the bedroom door opens the world to something beautiful and interesting, then love will last. If the bedroom door opens onto something that's boring or uninteresting, it won't last."
