Amelia Gray.Amelia Gray Hamlin is getting real about her modeling journey.
On the Tuesday, March 4, episode of Vogue's podcast The Run-Through, Hamlin, 23, said that her career story is "completely opposite" from the typical trajectory.
"Almost every girl's story is, 'I was walking on the street and someone scouted me,' but that's completely opposite to my story," she shared. "I scouted everyone else. I had already known that this is what I wanted to do since I was 5 years old. I have no idea why."
Hamlin explained that she had to "find everyone" in order to get jobs. "And so my story's different, but also my passion is different," she continued. "And I think that I don't really understand how a lot of the girls don't feel the same way that I do because to me it's so exciting and it's my dream and it's what I love to do and I could not imagine doing anything really else."

Of her recent couture fashion opportunities, Hamlin also shared that she's "well aware of the fact that I'm a nepo baby" and is "extremely grateful for that." In January, the model attended the Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture spring/summer 2024 show as part of Paris Fashion Week.
"I'm aware of everything that I am, but couture was just never something I thought I would be accepted into," she says. "So, Jean Paul Gaultier was actually my first ever couture show."

The model, who this week walked for Stella McCartney in Paris, also revealed that she's auditioned for Tom Ford's runway show multiple times but has never gotten the job.
"I have been to the Tom Ford casting every single time I land in Milan since my career started, and I have gotten so close to getting it," she shared. "They fit me in clothes, this and that, nah, nah, nah. And I've never gotten it because it's always just been one person doesn't support me, which is fine. I love a challenge."
She continues, "Like, make it harder for me because it's so boring if you get everything all at once. Like that, you know, careful what I wish for. I need to, like, careful what I put out there. But, you know, you have to work for things."
