'Abusive and vile': Amazon's 'Daddy's little sl*t' babywear sparks outrage

An item of baby clothing emblazoned with the words ‘Daddy's Little Slut’ has been branded ‘sick’ and ‘appalling’ by outraged Amazon shoppers in the UK.

The longsleeved babygrow is priced at £7.22 (AUD$13) by the seller ‘Ontwiesy’ and comes in black with the offensive phrase printed in white font on the front.

The ‘unisex’ garment comes in sizes to suit newborns through to one-year-olds and is described as perfect for ‘floor walking, playing, sleeping, casual wearing and photograph’ on the site.

On Friday, Twitter user @NW6Rd took to the platform to share their reaction to the babygrow, calling it ‘sick pedo shit’.

“How is this acceptable? Who designed it? Who buys it? Why??!! Why is it sold?” they wrote.

“Amazon - are you not checking? This is some sick pedo shit.. Social Services should be called to a baby wearing one of these”.

Another concerned Twitter user Pat Tyrell took their outrage one step further and started a petition demanding the online retail giant remove the item from the site.

“Amazon are advertising this appalling babygrow, emblazoned with the words "Daddy's Little Slut". It beggars belief. Please can you sign and share this petition to have it removed?” wrote @PatTyrell1.

The petition, which currently has six of its 100 signature goal, notes that the item was reportedly supposed to have been taken off Amazon at the end of 2019.

“This item is abusive and vile. It was supposed to have been removed last November and now appears on your website again. Please remove it immediately,” reads the description.

An Amazon spokesperson later told Yahoo Lifestyle that the product was ‘no longer available’.

“All sellers must follow our selling guidelines and those who do not will be subject to action including potential removal of their account. The product in question is no longer available,” the supplied statement read.

In November last year, Amazon ceased sales of a children’s T-shirt featuring the same ‘Daddy’s Little Slut’ phrase after public outcry.

The garment, which was modelled by a young girl on the site, was first listed in June for £14 (AUD$25) by seller Onlybabycare.

Amazon has been contacted for comment.
