Amazon has stopped sales of a children’s T-shirt emblazoned with the words “Daddy’s Little Slut”.

The removal of the product has come after a number of Twitter users complained about it, deeming it inappropriate for a child to wear.

One suggested they would “call the police” if they ever saw a child wearing it, while another said the T-shirt “sexualiz[ed] children”.

The T-shirt was first listed on the e-commerce platform in June this year for the price of $18 (£14), by seller Onlybabycare.

Following the backlash, an Amazon spokesperson told Yahoo UK: “All sellers must follow our selling guidelines and those who do not will be subject to action including potential removal of their account. The product in question is no longer available.”

However, the product is still available to buy in women’s and men’s sizes, together with a number of other T-shirts from the same supplier. Amazon did not offer an explanation for this when questioned.

This isn’t the first time an offensive T-shirt has been removed after a viral backlash.

Earlier this year, Versace apologised for selling a T-shirt which implies Hong Kong and Macau are independent territories – a mislabelling which caused offence to its Chinese clientele. In a statement shared on Chinese social media account Weibo and translated by China Daily, the label confirmed it had removed and destroyed the mislabelled T-shirts.

And back in 2017, Primark was forced to remove on of its T-shirts from shelves after it was accused of being “fantastically offensive”. The garment featured a bloodied baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire and the words “Eeny Meeny Miny Moe” received complaints from some shoppers who accused the slogan of being racist.
