Who doesn’t love a good bargain? Amazon Prime Day is fast approaching and it’s a good opportunity to pick up any big items you’re looking to purchase at a great price, or to stock up on winter essentials.
What and when is Amazon Prime Day 2021?
If you’re not already familiar with it, Prime Day is an annual, two-day long shopping event where prices are slashed across loads of items from tech to homewares, toys and beauty products on Amazon Australia.
A lot of mystery surrounds the event as the exact date isn’t announced much in advance, and there’s been lots of speculation in the lead up as to which items will be discounted.
It’s normally held in July, but due to the Covid pandemic, it’s been brought forward June 21 and 22 in 2021.
Only in its third year in Australia, Prime Day is still really new here and building up its following, but shoppers still bought millions of dollars worth of items during the sales event last year.

Meanwhile in the US, where it’s been running since 2015, it’s a seriously big deal and rivals the Black Friday and Boxing Day sales for shopper traffic on the site.
What Aussie shoppers can expect:
Just like the Amazon website itself, Prime Day is a mishmash of all sorts of things, and the types of items that’ll be discounted range from everyday homewares and kitchen items, to tech like laptops, TVs and noise cancelling headphones, to niche sporting items, beauty products, kids toys, clothes, furniture and just about everything in between.
To access the savings, you have to be an Amazon Prime member, but if you don’t already have a membership, there’s also a 30-day free trial you can sign up to to shop the sale.
A Prime membership costs $7 a month or $59 a year, and gives you access to Amazon’s streaming service Prime Video and free expedited delivery on eligible Amazon purchases.
It also means you can use Amazon Music, Prime Gaming and can read over a thousand ebooks on Prime Reading.
