The Living Room host and Gold Logie nominee Amanda Keller wasn’t pulling any punches when she appeared on The Project on Wednesday night.

The Aussie TV veteran, 57 - who is also up for a Most Popular Presenter gong - faced some curly questions about rival nominees Waleed Aly, who is up for gold, and Carrie Bickmore, who is in the running for Most Popular Presenter.

The Project host Gorgi Coghlan got straight to the point when she bluntly stated, “Our very own Carrie Bickmore is up for Most Popular Presenter. She's a gun.”

“She hasn't even been on TV for almost nine months. So how will you feel if she beats you in that category?” she added with a sly grin.

Amanda hit back at the awkward question by implying that new mum Carrie doesn’t need a Logie as she’s just given birth.

“Oh look, Carrie has had a baby,” Amanda said, referring to the TV and radio star’s newest bub Adelaide, who was born in December 2018.

“She's got a baby on the shelf at home. She doesn't need a Logie,” she added jokingly.

At this point Gorgi’s co-host Peter Helliar jumped in to ask viewers not to put their babies on shelves.

“Use them as doorstops, obviously. Logies - not babies,” Amanda quipped.

Amanda vs. Waleed

Amanda’s grilling was far from over. She also had to come face-to-face with her Gold Logie competitor Waleed, who labelled her “my sworn enemy.”

“I’ve reluctantly agreed to her coming on the show,” he deadpanned.

“I think you’re the major threat,” he added.

So why does Amanda believe she deserves the coveted trophy over Waleed?

“I’ve had [Living Room] co-star Miguel Maestre sitting next to me for eight years - if that doesn’t engender a Gold Logie I don’t know what does,” she reasoned.

TV’s night of nights takes place on Sunday June 30 at The Star Gold Coast where showbiz royalty will rub shoulders on the red carpet, dine on five-star dishes and (hopefully) leave with an award or two.
