Alex Nation and Richie Strahan clash over their 'brutal' breakup

It’s the reunion none of us ever saw coming – Alex Nation and Richie Strahan. Well, sort of.

The former couple are set to come face-to-face on this year’s season of Bachelor In Paradise, but it looks far from idyllic.

In a new promo for the show, the exes clash over what Richie describes as a “brutal” breakup.

“I don’t know if Australia is ready for the grubby details surrounding it,” the 33-year-old tells Osher Gunsberg as he enters Paradise.

The camera then cuts to a concerned Alex who insists she doesn’t want to see him on the show.

“Richie and I do not talk anymore and I do not want to meet him in Paradise,” the 28-year-old says.

While Richie seems shocked to see his ex-girlfriend entering Paradise, the pair go off for a chat which seems to quickly turn sour.

“Do you want to go there Rich?” Alex tells her ex, clearly offended by something he’d said.

“Don’t beat around the bush Alex, because you’re not going to like my response,” he replies.

Meanwhile Alex quips back probing her ex-boyfriend for trying to say he was “perfect” in their one-year relationship.

“Don’t put words in my mouth,” Richie responds.

But it is Alex’s spicy response which has sent our tongues wagging, and perhaps many others.

“It was me? I actually can’t believe that you were telling me, it was me,” she says raising her voice at Richie.

Whatever they’re discussing, you can bet we’re intrigued to find out.

Fans of the show will no doubt be eager to see Alex and Richie reunite after their split in August 2017.

Richie, 33, surprised many Bachie viewers in 2016 after he chose Alex over fan-favourite Nikki Gogan.

Unfortunately the couple didn’t stand the test of time, as they split just over a year later.

Shortly after their breakup Alex started dating Maegan Luxa, whom she eventually became engaged to, but the pair parted ways in April last year.

Richie previously told New Idea, he was heartbroken over the way his relationship with Alex ended.

“Having something wonderful dissolve the way it did was heartbreaking, but at the same time, there was a lot of relief that the emotional roller-coaster was finally over,” he admitted.

“I guess the brightest spark can fizzle fast.”

Meanwhile favourites – and perhaps least favourites too – from last season on The Bachelor are set to enter Paradise this year too.

Former villains from Nick Cummins’ season, Cat Henesey and Alisha Aitken-Radburn have been confirmed for the show, as well as, Cassandra Wood and Brooke Blurton.

Bachelor In Paradise season two will air later this year on Channel 10.
