Yahoo Lifestyle Alec Baldwin Says He Will ‘Expose What Really Happened’ Behind the Scenes of Fatal ‘Rust’ Shooting: The Truth ‘Has Never Been Told’
Despite the case being dismissed in July, Alec Baldwin says the story surrounding the fatal “Rust” shooting has only begun.
On the Dec. 16 episode of David Duchovny’s “Fail Better” podcast, Baldwin said “there is more to come” regarding what occurred during the Oct. 21, 2021, shooting on the set of the indie western “Rust,” adding that “the truth of what happened has never been told.”

“I think there’s more to come,” Baldwin said. “There’s more to come, but the more to come is now my effort, and it’s going to be undeniably a successful effort, to raise and to expose what really happened. I was counterpunching. I was on the defensive. I was being accused. I was being indicted.”
Baldwin went on to say that he feels the mainstream media “suppressed every story” that could have helped his chances of exoneration and “amplified every story” that tarnished his image in the three years since the tragic death of “Rust” director of photography Halyna Hutchins.
“We have more shit that’s going to come out in ensuing legal filings and so forth,” Baldwin said. “These last three years, people have just dined out. Because in this country, when people hate you on that level, they want three things. They want you to die.”
After “Rust” armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was charged with evidence tampering and sentenced to 18 months in prison, the manslaughter charges against Baldwin were dropped. However, the following year, Baldwin was re-indicted by a grand jury in light of a new investigation. The case ended in an unexpected dismissal in July after Baldwin’s attorneys revealed the prosecution and the Santa Fe sheriffs had concealed evidence.
Baldwin said that since the incident, some have stopped at nothing to shun him from the industry, a feeling he compared to “being dead because you roam the earth and you’re invisible.”
However, Baldwin believes things are turning around for him and said he is looking forward to setting the record straight in the coming months.
“I do believe that, by the communications I’ve had lately, things are coming back my way to work,” Baldwin said. “I’m happy about that because I’ve got seven kids. But I’ve also enjoyed the fact that there’s so much of this case that is not known because we didn’t have a full trial.”
