Aldi's luxury beauty dupes will have you seeing double, but paying much less
I love luxury cosmetics. There is just nothing like buying a designer lip gloss or cream to boost the mood.
This phenomenon even has a name - the lipstick index - after it was noticed cosmetic sales increased when times were tough.
Women look for an inexpensive way to treat themselves and cosmetics can give them that.
It's no wonder the latest Aldi catalogue caught my eye, with its beauty sale set for Saturday, May 7.
I couldn't help but notice some of the products had a familiar look.

I carry my Dior Lip Glow balm everywhere I go but, at $57, it's not cheap.
However, Aldi Lacura Ultra Glow Lip Balm, which provides instant moisture and a soft gloss finish, had that same luxurious look for $9.99 ... and that wasn't the only one!
There was also the choice of two premium mascaras, Lacura Ultra Defining Mascara and Volumising Mascara for only $8.99, with carefully designed fibre brushes and tips for a fuller lash effect.
These seem very similar to Dior's Diorshow mascaras, which will set you back $60.
I love that the Defining and Lengthening Mascara has a ball tip to get into those small lashes in the corners - just like Givenchy's Phenomen'Eyes, but minus the $53 price tag!
Lacura’s all-in-one Ultra Glow Palette for a natural radiance is just $14.99 for a palette that sculpts and defines your features.
And while it may not have the quilted top and high-end packaging of the Dior Backstage Glow Face Palette ($79), the colours and purpose certainly match.
And while retinol is still a buzzword, brands like The Ordinary are showing highly effective products don't have to cost a lot, making Aldi's new retinol range very interesting.
The new Lacura Skin Science Retinol+ Skin Care range is a specially formulated combination to help regenerate, firm and smooth skin for a younger-looking complexion. Which is not unlike Olay's Regenerist Retinol 24 range.
I was eager to find out more.
"We’re excited to be introducing our new LACURA® Skin Science Retinol+ Skin Care range in Special Buys, that are sure to satisfy the Aussie appetite for quality anti-aging products with active ingredients that don’t break the bank!," Aldi’s LACURA® Buying Director Deborah Heng told Yahoo Lifestyle.
"The range works as a specially formulated combination to help regenerate, firm and smooth skin for a younger-looking complexion, while using a smart selection of ingredients that help to create a plumping and hydrating effect."
“ALDI’s award-winning LACURA® range shows time and time again that quality skincare products don’t need to come with a hefty price tag," Deborah added.
"It has something for everyone, with products that help tackle concerns such as fine lines, dullness and dehydration."
The final product that caught our eye is the new Facial Hair Remover.
There is barely a need to put it side-by-side with The Finishing Touch Flawless Facial Hair Remover, because they are almost identical.
Want to know what's not identical? The price! For just $9.99, instead of $39.99, you can give this mini shaver a try.
Other items I'm looking forward to trying are their Facial In A Box and the Wonder Cream.
Now if only these new products would become part of Aldi's regular range ...
Aldi's Beauty Special Buys are on sale Saturday, May 7, 2022. Check ALDI Special Buys Delay page here to check if the items will be available at your local Aldi.
