The $299 Aldi sofa that's setting the internet on fire

It’s a brand new week and for die hard Aldi shoppers that means one thing: a new range of Special Buys to get excited about.

As per usual, the German supermarket chain has a cracker offering lined up for Saturday August 10, but there’s one extra special Special Buy that we reckon will be a sell-out, and that’s this stylish grey sofa.

And really, what’s not to love about this piece of furniture? Let’s start with the price. At $299 it’s a veritable steal - you don’t even need to feel guilty about splashing out on the matching storage footstool ($19.99) and bench ($99.99).

The mid-century style piece comes in two colours - grey and cream - and the fabric is described as “durable” on Aldi’s site.

It features a solid wood frame and legs and comes with two bolster cushions with removable covers.

But wait, there’s more to this sofa than meets the eye. A “simple click-clack mechanism” transforms the sofa into, wait for it... a bed.

Your last-minute guests will rest easy on the “comfortable high density foam inner” - you might even want to claim it for yourself.

Start camping out at your local Aldi, people ‘cause this Special Buy is going to fly off shelves. We mean that figuratively, of course, as the sofa itself weighs a hefty 48kg.

Of course people on the internet are already freaking out about the cheap sofa bed online with comments from excited shoppers flooding Facebook.

“I want this couch,” one person exclaimed.

“This is why I love Aldi,” another simply wrote.

While others pleaded with their partners or work colleagues to get in line for the item when it goes on sale this weekend.
