Aldi shoppers are racing in-store to get their hands on a new dessert that is apparently an "Xmas day must". The budget retailer's new gingerbread-flavoured ice cream has quickly become a fan favourite and is just $6.

It honestly sounds like the perfect dessert for this hot and humid summer we are having while providing that sweet Christmassy flavour, given we are now well and truly into the festive season. One Facebook user shared the delicious new treat, writing, "OMG! Everyone do yourselves a favour and make this a Xmas day must. Or better still, go out now and try it today. Absolutely delicious."

Many others agreed, with one person writing, "I agree. This is delicious. I am wanting to try the Christmas pudding ice cream. It's never there when I go shopping... will try again this week."

"It's delicious, I've nearly eaten a whole tub to myself," another said.

"Slapped this in between two homemade jam drops, best ice cream I've had in a long time," a third agreed.

"This stuff's so good, had a unique taste, best ice cream I've ever had," someone else added.

"On my third tub..." yet another said.

"I ran, not walked, to my local and it's not there," one heartbroken shopper said.

Another described it as her "current obsession", while another said it was a "must get".

"I just finished the pot, so that means it's time to get another one," one woman shared.

TikToker @serenas__cucina said of the ice cream, "It's just like a gingerbread, I love how there's caramel ripple and biscuit crumb in this one."

"Shhhh, keep gelato finds a secret," one user joked, to which the TikToker replied, "I did have to go to a few Aldi stores to complete the set!"

Fellow TikToker @stephcooksstuff also shared her thoughts on the ice cream, saying it was "right up my alley", adding, "Can recommend!"

It comes after Aldi shoppers raved about their $6 gelato – another summer favourite! The 500ml tubs of gelato come in flavours like lemon, pistachio and speculoos (Biscoff).

Aussie content creator Nectorious Papi, who shares his foodie finds with his 63k followers on TikTok, raved about the freezer aisle addition in a recent video, telling his fans to "run, don't walk" to Aldi.

"I wasn't expecting much from this because I didn't see any swirls," he said of the pistachio flavour. "I wanted to see some like pistachio spread through there or some cream, but it doesn't need it. It's a super strong pistachio taste - nice, sweet.

"It's smooth creamy and then obviously you've got the pistachios on top for that crunch. This one is awesome."

"Onto the Speculoos one," he said as he tried the next gelato. "Okay, this smells like Biscoff... It's much more of a cinnamon taste, so closer to the Speculoos biscuits, to be honest. It's still really nice the gelato itself is very caramel.

"This reminds me more of the Ben and Jerry's Speculoos flavour rather than a Biscoff ice cream. So if you love cinnamon with caramel, then you'll like this one It's not really Biscoff, but still really nice either way cheap. Really nice creamy tasty."
