Roker, 70, shared a video on Instagram on Dec. 8 of a crackling fire in a fireplace as a jazzy interpretation of “Let It Snow” by Diana Krall played in the background. He teased in the caption that it was his “fyre fest” this weekend, referencing a luxury music festival that went awry, before admitting that he’d been “beating myself up for not doing more.”

He continued, noting that “it’s been a long couple of weeks” for him at work, with both the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the tree lighting at Rockefeller Center, which required long hours of coverage outside of his regular work schedule.

Roker then said that “at 70, it takes more out of me then it did at 50 or 60. I still love it but I appreciate the downtime even more,” prompting fans to applaud the television personality for taking time to unwind.

“Taking care of yourself is always a good choice. You can’t keep pouring from an empty vessel❤️,” wrote one fan in the comments, while another agreed, telling him that they “understand completely! I have always been active but I need more downtime at 72 after a busy week. I need to recharge, reflect, and realize I need more rest. Glad you allowed yourself some downtime.”

Actress Kate Flannery, who is best known for her role as Meredith on The Office, chimed in as well, writing, “Take care, Al! You are the best! Recharge as long as you need. You are reminding all of us to take care of ourselves. Good man!”
