Ahead of XL Yellowstone Finale, Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser Close Deals for Spinoff (Report)
Paramount Network’s Yellowstone as we know it may be coming to an end with Sunday’s super-sized Season 5 finale, but Yellowstone as a whole? Not even close. Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser have sealed deals to reprise their roles of Beth Dutton and husband Rip Wheeler in a new spinoff, Deadline reports. (Paramount Network had no comment on the article.)
According to our sister site, Yellowstone co-creator Taylor Sheridan is already working on the new offshoot, which will be the first to include in its title the name of the mothership. No doubt, you already read that Reilly and Hauser had been in talks to continue Yellowstone. The decision to create a spinoff instead likely stems from a desire to position the show under the umbrella of parent company Paramount Global; the OG Yellowstone streams on Peacock, owing to a preexisting agreement.

Ahead of Yellowstone's Finale, Stars Promise a 'Great Ride for Our Fans'
Yellowstone 2.0 is expected to feature some of Reilly and Hauser’s current castmates. The most obvious candidates are Forrie J. Smith and Finn Little, who play Lloyd and Carter, the only hands Rip kept on the payroll after selling off the ranch’s assets in the December 8 episode (recapped here), and Gil Birmingham, whose Rainwater is poised to buy the land for the Confederated Tribes of Broken Rock.
Sunday’s Season 5 finale (premiering at 8/7c), our sister site The Hollywood Reporter says, clocks in at 86 minutes. The logline for the Sheridan-directed “Life Is a Promise” reads: “The fate of the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch is revealed.” The smart money is on the episode also revealing the fate of Beth’s treacherous brother, Jamie, who seems destined to take a trip to the train station. (Portrayer Wes Bentley always feared that this day would come; read his thoughts here.)
