Adorable Samoyed Best Friends Reunite for Heartwarming Handholding Session
Some people might think it's impossible for dogs to have best friends, but the rest of us know better. After all, don't you feel at least a little bit like you're your dog's best friend? And of course, it's not just people they get attached to in this way; many dogs out there will have a dog (or cat) best friend, too. Even if they don't live in your house with you, they just perk up when they see their BFF or hear their name in a way that they just don't when you're talking about anyone else.
And when it comes to dog besties, there is no doubt that the two Samoyeds in this Instagram video are two peas in a pod, especially after watching this adorable interaction.
In this video that @littlebearlumi shared on Monday, September 9, we get to see what happens when a gorgeous Samoyed pup named Lumi reunites with his best friend, a Samoyed named Moira. (Spoiler alert: These two are the cutest together.)
As they laid down side by side on the floor, Lumi put his paw on top of Moira's, and Moira didn't pull away — something that pleasantly surprised Lumi when he looked back over to discover that they were still holding paws. Aww! Is anyone else feeling emotional about this, or is it just me?
These two have been pals since Lumi was a baby, though they don't get to see each other too often since Lumi lives in NYC and Moira and her family live in Seattle. But that means that the time they do spend together is even more special... and, as we can see in this video, they were so happy to see each other again after such a long time apart!
More About Lumi the Samoyed
Just in case you didn't already know, Lumi is kind of a big deal — even aside from the 455,000 followers he's gained on Instagram.
He went viral last year after his mom shared a video on TikTok when she carried him in a backpack on the NYC subway, despite the fact that he weighs over 50 pounds! A rule was instated that dogs must be carried in some type of container to be on the subway, and they wouldn't want to break the rules, now would they?
At the time, Lumi's mom, Jackie Hornung, told Newsweek that Lumi "loves being carried" and even feels calm while he's in there!
"He gets a lot of pets, which he very much enjoys," she said.
And who wouldn't want to pet Lumi if they met him on the subway? He's too cute!
