Adele Hugged Meryl Streep While Dressed Up As One of Her Most Iconic Characters
She had a fangirl moment.
As Adele kicked off Halloween weekend at her Las Vegas residency, she had an unexpected fangirl moment. The “Someone Like You” singer got into the Halloween spirit by dressing up as one of Meryl Streep’s most iconic characters – and she shared a sweet moment with the Academy Award-winning actress when she spotted her in the crowd.
For her Weekends with Adele Las Vegas residency show on Friday, Nov. 1, the “Rolling in the Deep” singer channeled Madeline Ashton, Streep’s character from the 1992 film Death Becomes Her, which also starred Goldie Hawn and Bruce Willis. Per a video shared by an Adele fan account on Instagram, the singer could be seen wearing a platinum blonde wig with a deep side part, a silver necklace, and a silver silk jacket that looked just like the one that Streep wore in the camp classic.
As she belted out "When We Were Young,” Adele appeared to notice Streep in the crowd for the first time, and went up to her. Clearly starstruck, the “Rolling in the Deep” singer said “Hello,” and curtsied. The fangirling appeared to be mutual, as Streep bowed back at her, and then the two hugged each other.

Adele continued singing throughout the embrace, at one point telling The Devil Wears Prada actress, “I love you.”
The sweet moment comes just days after Adele shared a similar exchange with Celine Dion during her Oct. 26 show. Per videos shared by concertgoers, Adele was also singing “When We Were Young” when she saw Dion in the crowd and went over. As they hugged, Adele began tearing up and kissed her hand.
She later took to X (formerly Twitter) to explain why the moment was so special for her. “I have been performing in Celine Dion's room at the Colosseum for almost 2 years now,” she explained. “It was the only venue I wanted to play in Vegas because it was built for her.”
She continued, “I have a picture of her right next to the stage that I touch every night before I walk on and she came to the show this weekend and it was a surprise and it was a MOMENT!!"
