We've got old money blonde and expensive blonde. Now, thanks to Addison Rae, there's Diet Blonde. The pop star shared a snapshot from the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards and tagged her colorist, Matt Rez (an InStyle Imagemaker, thank you very much), dubbing her new blonde shade "Diet Blonde," a reference to her chart-topping hit "Diet Pepsi."

Prior to the slight shift, Rae had a warmer blonde color at the 2024 Academy Museum Gala at Los Angeles's Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. The new shade is slightly cooler and freshens up her dark roots. As for what makes it diet, that's something between the singer and her colorist—and as we all know, that's a relationship that's akin to attorney-client privilege.

In addition to the hair change, the CFDA Awards were a chance for Rae to show off her fashion chops. She arrived at the event in an archival creation by Thom Browne. The look came from the designer's 2018 runway collection, though Rae updated it with a seashell clutch to reference her new track, "Aquamarine." Instead of the long coat that accompanied the gauzy paillette-and-plaid skirt on the catwalk, Rae paired it with a cinched corset and pearl necklace.

"I love trying new things and taking risks," she told Vogue back at the 2022 ceremony, when she also wore a vintage look. Harper's Bazaar reports that Rae's focus on fashion isn't accidental. For the music video for "Aquamarine," the singer channeled '60s and ’70s icons Jane Birkin and Brigitte Bardot—perennial fashion touchstones for everyone from pop stars to couturiers.
