ABC Is "Pausing" 'The Bachelorette,' Skipping Next Season of Long-Running Show
Looks like some major changes are coming to Bachelor Nation. Last night, news broke that ABC is "skipping" the upcoming cycle of The Bachelorette.
According to Deadline, the network is "pausing" the show, which typically would be starting production in the coming months for a Summer premiere date.
So...is The Bachelorette...canceled? Apparently not. Deadline writes that it "will likely come back to the Disney-owned network in the future" and hasn't been "completely ruled out" for a return next year. The outlet also points out that The Bachelorette (which has been on since 2003 and last featured Jenn Tran) didn't air in 2006 or 2007, so this decision isn't quite as shocking as it might seem.
Meanwhile, Bachelor in Paradise is returning after taking a break last year—and of course Grant Ellis' season of The Bachelor is currently airing! Typically, Bachelorettes have been chosen from the runners-up of the preceding Bachelor season, but with such a wide window between now and whenever The Bachelorette returns, it's possible ABC will look outside the previous season's contestant pool.
That's all for now, but stay tuned for updates.
