'My 600-Lb Life' Star DeShaun Davis Now: An Update on His Weight Loss Journey
On Feb. 5, 2025, TLC viewers were introduced to DeShaun Davis on My 600-Lb Life. But how is he doing now?
DeShaun Davis, 28, of Omaha, Neb., struggled to get around his home because of his weight in Season 13, Episode 6 of My 600-Lb Life. Although viewers hoped to see him change his eating habits and lifestyle choices, his progress stalled for months.
He sought help from bariatric surgeon Dr. Younan Nowzaradan (known as Dr. Now) in Houston, Texas. But was Davis able to change his ways and qualify for weight-loss surgery?
DeShaun Davis was not motivated to lose weight in My 600-Lb Life Season 13, Episode 6.
At the beginning of his My-600-Lb episode, Davis rarely left his bedroom. He recounted his troubled childhood, which involved his mother's substance abuse, his father's absence from being in jail, abuse at the hands of his stepfather, bullying at school and more. Getting shot as a teenager also caused his reclusive behavior to intensify.
To cope with his feelings, he ate—eventually surpassing 500 pounds by 18. Davis told Dr. Now that he weighed over 700 pounds when they started working together.

Unfortunately, Davis did not make progress in his weight-loss journey by four months into the process.
He had a difficult time adhering to Dr. Now's 1,200-calorie high-protein, low-carb diet, despite working with a nutritionist. Eventually, he refused to meet with his physical therapist, did not follow the diet and expressed zero motivation to follow Dr. Now's advice.
After meeting with psychologist Dr. Matthew Paradise, Davis committed to leaving his bedroom daily, including having meals with his family and sitting on his porch to get fresh air. Davis followed through with the plan and was regularly getting out of the room by six months into the journey.
In month seven, a medical van came to take Davis to a local clinic to finally do an official weigh-in, but he refused to go.

By month 10, Davis no longer responded to calls from Dr. Now, Dr. Paradise, or any other of the professionals providing physical therapy or nutritional support.
"At this point, it is clear the choices that DeShaun has made and that he has no interest in changing his life," Dr. Now said at the end of the My 600-Lb Life episode. "We have given him a chance to get healthy and change his life for the better, and he doesn't want that."
