This $50 Million Penthouse Is the Last Available Unit at N.Y.C.’s Surrey Residences
In June, Robb Report got an exclusive first look inside the new hotel-branded residences at The Surrey on East 76th Street in Manhattan. Now, the boutique Upper East Side condo has unveiled its crown jewel penthouse, which has hit the market with a $50 million asking price.
The lavish duplex residence is the building’s most expensive unit—and the last of the 14 private residences available. Altogether, the palatial pad features three bedrooms and three baths across its roughly 5,200 square feet. Outside, you’ll find a private roof deck, plus three terraces that add more than 2,300 additional square feet. Of course, the finishes here are incredibly opulent to justify the hefty ask. Think white oak flooring and handcrafted millwork, plus custom casement windows throughout, and a Calacatta gold marble island in the kitchen. To furnish the trophy property, the condominium is offering bespoke interior design services in collaboration with The Invisible Collection.

The residences start on the 11th floor of the 16-story landmark hotel, which was originally designed in 1926 by the architecture firm Schwartz & Gross and recently underwent extensive renovations at the hands of BKSK Architects. The storied property, now known as The Surrey, a Corinthia Hotel, was originally built as a residence hotel and in the centuries since it has hosted everyone from Bette Davis and Claudette Colbert to JFK and Ethel Merman.
The Reuben Brothers, the London-based real estate developers behind the project, sold an impressive 13 of the 14 residences since The Surrey quietly launched sales earlier this summer. In September, a six-bedroom unit with a $28 million price tag was put into contract, and most recently, a buyer snapped up a $24.25 million spread that rambles across the 14th floor. The building is slated for completion early next year.
“With a coveted Upper East Side address, elevated hotel services, and ultimate privacy offered to buyers, it’s no surprise that The Surrey Residences are some of the most sought-after new luxury residential offerings this year,” said Susan de França, president and CEO of Douglas EllimanDevelopment Marketing, who is exclusively handling sales and marketing.
In addition to its premium hotel accommodations and 14 private residences, the elegant tower has been outfitted with tons of enviable amenities, including a spa and a state-of-the-art fitness center. It will also house the New York City outpost of Miami’s beloved Casa Tua. Residents of The Surrey will enjoy a lifelong membership to the exclusive social and dining club, providing access to the Mediterranean-style restaurant as well as a members-only space with personalized service.
